Kyori Sato: Cult Couture Basic “Living Dangerously” /2007 91155 – (Boxed, Rebodied)

BOXED, REBODIED, GREAT CONDITION. Attracted to wealth and fame – and seeming destined to betray those closest to her – infamous model Kyori Sato maintains a haughty air of impenetrability no other doll can match. With long straight bold red center-parted hair and gray side-glancing eyes, she flaunts her revealing royal purple lingerie like a badge of iniquity. She has been rebodied* on a replacement tall wasp-waist body with non-removable hands, redressed, and returned* to her original box. She comes with her original* clothing and accessories that include:

  • LINGERIE – This revealing set is tailored to fit the original tall Fashion Royalty body and includes a heavily embroidered purple bra with black ribbon straps that wrap around under the breast area, with a back hook and thread loop closure. Matching bikini panties also have a hook and thread loop back closure.
  • ROBE – This flowing satin open robe has a top construction mimicking a kimono, with the sleeves lined and collar trimmed in darker* purple satin. The back of the robe has a rounded hem that cascades like a train for an exotic luxury effect. (Robe will be tissue-wrapped and packaged inside a plastic back and tucked inside the box in front of the doll for shipping.)
  • SHOES – Molded black plastic wedges are lined with purple insoles and sport toe and ankle black ribbon* tie straps. (Shoes will be packaged in a plastic bag and placed inside the bag with the robe for shipping.)
  • JEWELRY – Kyori comes wearing* her “diamond” stud earrings mounted on inserted metal posts.
  • DOCUMENTS – Story card and Certificate of Authentication are included in the inner front slot.
  • STAND – Lucite base with telescoping metal stem and Lucite saddle support are factory-secured inside the inner box.
  • PACKAGING – Ms. Sato comes in her original retail packaging that consists of a heavy-duty white gloss-laminated outer display box with a storybook type hinged folding side on the left and a hidden magnetic flap closure on the right. The closure flap has some slight yellowing but otherwise is in great shape. The flat silver interior and inner flat black box with bottom accessory drawer are in new condition with no visible flaws. There is no paper liner. The retail box comes in a protective clear plastic sleeve and will ship inside the original factory shipper with doll ID info on the side. The shipper will be bubble-wrapped and covered in poly bagging for shipment if shipped separately.

Description

*NOTE 1: Doll vinyl will often become more brittle and delicate with age, as chemical softeners added to the vinyl in the manufacturing process will diminish over time. Fashion Royalty dolls are made of a harder vinyl than most play line dolls, so stress points (neck and other joint locations) on their bodies will tend to become more delicate. Please use care when posing/redressing/storing older dolls, as joints – especially the neck – can become stiff and brittle and more susceptible to breakage. If a head on an older FR doll will not turn or tilt with minimal pressure, DO NOT FORCE, as this could cause breakage.

*NOTE 2: This particular doll run from Integrity usually suffered from age-yellowing, and that is the reason this doll was carefully removed from her original box and rebodied on a similar tone body of the same style that was in much better condition with no visible flaws. Rebodying involves heating up the doll’s head and neck until the head becomes pliable, and then carefully removing the head and placing it on a different body while the head is still pliable. Once rebodied, the doll was then carefully redressed and tied back in her original retail packaging. Because this particular doll run was factory-packaged with clear plastic bands and ties that interacted with the dye in the clothing, this doll was resecured using cling wrap around joints and tied in with black ribbons to avoid shifting during shipping.

*NOTE 3: The dye used on the robe for this doll line tended to stain badly due to excess dye remaining in the material. This robe was soaked in hot tap water with mild detergent to dislodge excess dye, then rinsed and dried thoroughly before packaging. While we cannot guarantee this particular robe and lingerie set will not stain, we did apply the exact same treatment to the clothing from another Living Dangerously doll, and that doll’s robe has showed no signs of fading over a year’s time while the doll modeling that clothing (shown in additional pictures) has remained on display.

NOTE 4: The original ribbon ties on the shoes for this doll were extremely thin and papery, and with age had become very fragile with inevitable breakage. These shoes were carefully refurbished using heavier black ribbon and E6000 glue. The toe straps were carefully fitted and securely glued under the shoes insoles, and the ankle ties were rethreaded through the back heel loop as originally designed. Ribbon ends have not been fray-checked.
