NEVER REMOVED FROM BOX, GREAT CONDITION. Darla Daley, friend of Poppy Parker in the doll world of a young adult female fashion model in the 60’s in New York City, plays the part of a professional singer. She has a medium brown complexion, side-glancing large doe-like brown eyes (no applied lashes), and silver-tone button earrings. Her shoulder-length black hair is smoothed back and rolled under at the base of the neck, with a white ribbon headband holding her style in place. She comes wearing white fishnet pantyhose under a short black halter jumper trimmed in white, over a white ribbed turtleneck sweater. Also included are a black patent pleather flats with decorative black bows. The retail box is in great display condition and, of note, is the fact that this box has only one pink tie ribbon on the right side facing the window display lid. The lid is attached to the box bottom and hinges open on the left with the top and bottom corners intentionally manufactured with a split design to allow this movement.
The Poppy Parker body is about the same height as a standard 11.5-inch fashion doll, with slightly slimmer chest, waist, and hips. She can share clothes with a variety of fashion dolls and has nicely designed articulation at the neck (front/back/side tilt), shoulders and hips (front/back/lateral), knees that bend, and twist/bend articulation at the elbows, wrists, and ankles. The shaped flat feet are larger than most standard fashion dolls, so shoe choices may be limited, although the ankles can tilt to accommodate high heels. Toe box width is the critical factor in shoe fit.
This Darla, sought after by doll enthusiasts, was designed under the direction of Jason Wu, has top-notch clothing, displays wonderfully, and is cute as a button. She comes on a Poppy Parker body* with removable hands and is shown here wearing a brown tulle ruffle skirt with patent vinyl trim and hidden shimmer sparkles, matched with a simple cream cropped sleeveless rib-knit turtleneck top. Slip-on dark brown leatherette toe-strap heels with bead adornment are from Joe Tai, and have molded high heel soles. Shoes will come packaged in a pink and white Joe Tai brand lift-top retail shoe box. Skirt is designed to fit slender dolls and snaps in back. Top has Velcro-type back fastener. The Poppy Parker body has articulation at neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, chest, hips, knees, and ankles, and is about the same height as (or a smidgen taller than) standard belly-button or made-to-move Mattel Barbie. *NOTE: This doll’s hands and feet have become discolored (yellowed) with age. The hands can be switched out for color-matched replacements, but, as far as we know, the feet cannot be replaced using regular body-switch means. After display pictures were added to this listing, Americana “Brown Sugar” acrylic paint was applied in thin layers to achieve a color similar to but not an exact match to her body. This coloring will stay in place if not washed vigorously with water or scrubbed with soap, bristles, or abrasive cleaners. It may, however, retain scratch marks or rubs if the doll is handled rough (like trying to fit tight shoes or slide jewelry over hands without removing them first). To make coloring more permanent and resistant to water, staining, and scratches, apply one or two coats of acrylic matte varnish/sealer (like Liquitex or some other artist-grade brand) and allow to dry a couple days before continued use.

DRESSED. This lovely Fairytopia(R) Elina doll has been rebodied on a TNT Barbie body with jointed arms from the Generation Girl line (Lara), and has the non-removable fuchsia ribbon choker with gold bead adornment. Her golden blond long hair with thin gold tinsel is in the original factory style, and her rooted lashes are in great shape. She’s been redressed in the Secret Spells jacket-dress over a shiny pink lamé bandeau swim top with silver braided center halter ties and yellow lamé swim bottoms with a gold waistband and sprinkles of gold glitter. Pink strappy sandals complete the look. As a final touch, she’s supporting a purple dragonfly on her hand – truly in touch with her natural side.

NRFB, GREAT CONDITION. This edition of 850 consists of a two-doll set that includes a beautiful pale dark-haired version of Erin Salston and a blonde dark-complexion version of Colette Duranger in stylishly trendy black-themed clothing, with accessories included for each doll. These dolls have never been removed from the box.
THE RETAIL BOX. The white retail box with foldover magnetic flap is in fairly good shape with the black “Model Behaviour” strip slightly lifted in one spot but still secure on the front flap. The box outer finish layer shows some slight bend-stress tearing at the lower right corner, and one lower corner appears to have a crease, but overall this box is structurally sound with the paper laminate covering in good shape. The inner layers and interior boxing are near perfect. The inner back panel behind the dolls is black on the left and white on the right, with white packing paper covering the contents. The dolls have their factory hair nets intact and are held inside the box with white ribbon ties. A pocket in the inner front cover holds a stylish foldover story card for the dolls. Two bottom pull-out drawers hold accessories for each of the dolls.

NUDE, REBODIED, REPAINTED – EXCELLENT CONDITION. This beautiful golden-blonde doll has had an expert facial repaint (by someone very talented, don’t know who). She has been rebodied on a factory replacement first-generation tall Fashion Royalty body (with the “wasp” waist). While it was difficult to determine the original factory identity of this doll, judging by the “Japan” skin tone and golden blonde hair color, we’re guessing it’s Erin Salston 2007 “Pretty Calculated” from the Model Behavior issue of the NuFace line. This doll comes with red dangle gem earrings (shown), and is a stunning doll to add to any collection.
