DRESSED. Barbie’s the official Texas State Fair “Barbecutie” – winning the barbecue cook-off contest once again, of course. This year, distant runner-up Ken stepped up his culinary game and managed to come in second. Barbie better watch out, or they could rename the contest the “Barbe-Ken” cook-off! But she’s not worried. A little extra hot sauce can really spice up the competition.
This classic 90’s Barbie has long pale blonde streaked hair, with the top layer styled in mini crinkle-waves emulating micro-braids. She’s similar to the Generation Girl series Barbie on a TNT twist-waist body with jointed arms and dark blue manicure. She’s been redressed in a Western-themed ensemble consisting of an A-line denim skirt with front inset hem panel, a blue and white polka-dot long-sleeve blouse with lace-trim collar and cuffs, a light blue and peach faux suede fringe waist skirt with a pseudo Native American design (from American Idol Simone 2004 Mattel G7998), white slip-on cowgirl boots, and white vinyl/plastic hat. Her body is in good shape with no discernible flaws.

The Mattel character name “Courtney” originally represented a redheaded friend of teen Skipper and was briefly changed to represent brunette friend of Barbie in the Fashion Fever era, briefly using the Lara face sculpt, and eventually destined to morph into the amusing villainous character, Raquelle, in the “Life in the Dream House” CGI animated web series. This Courtney, from the earlier CGI animated series, “The Barbie Diaries,” still retains remnants of the wide-eyed innocence of the original Courtney character in the teen Skipper era.
Courtney has large, lively green eyes, lavender eye makeup and an open smile with lavender lips. Her thick black waist-length hair with auburn streaks and bangs has been restyled, taken down from the original pigtails. Her golden blond long hair with thin gold tinsel is in the original factory style, and her rooted lashes are in great shape. She’s been redressed in the Secret Spells jacket-dress over a shiny pink lamé bandeau swim top with silver braided center halter ties and yellow lamé swim bottoms with a gold waistband and sprinkles of gold glitter. Pink strappy sandals complete the look. As a final touch, she’s supporting a purple dragonfly on her hand – truly in touch with her natural side.
