DRESSED. Barbie’s at an outdoor barbecue fundraiser and knows the dress code – blend, but with a little extra pizzazz. And that’s exactly what she’s doing here, with her fringe-strip denim skirt, sequin cummerbund, tall boots, and cowgirl hat. It’s gonna be quite a wing-ding.
This Barbie with a 90’s CEO face has long white blonde hair, on a TNT twist-waist body. She’s been redressed in a Western-themed ensemble consisting of 1) straight denim skirt with high-cut hem fringe strips and back Velcro-type closure, 2) oversize red satin short-sleeve blouse with silver neckline trim and back Velcro-type closure, 3) silver sequin stretch cummerbund that hooks in back, 4) red slip-on molded lace-up boots, 5) and white vinyl cowgirl hat with faux suede texture.
NOTE: Bargain dressed dolls will not have extra nude body pictures provided in listing, due to time and labor constraints vs. monetary return. Any problems/flaws will be listed here: (none). This is a very cute doll with a lot of separates that can be used to redress other dolls in a variety of contemporary, casual, or themed ensembles.

NEVER REMOVED FROM BOX, in OVERALL GOOD CONDITION. This 2-doll lot is sold together as a set, with each doll NEVER REMOVED FROM BOX, in OVERALL GOOD CONDITION, showing minor wear/imperfections on box edges and corners typical for age and normal handling, unless otherwise individually specified. Dolls have typical 90’s “superstar” generic Barbie faces with large eyes, rooted lashes, and open smiles – with the exception of the Chinese Empress doll that has a modified “Kira” closed-mouth face. Bodies have the typical twist waist, straight-arms with angular shoulder movement, hips with straight back and forth movement, click-bend knees, and high-heel feet.
The “GREAT ERAS” series illustrates a variety of historically recognized fashion styles from select cultures or time frames. Each of the 10 dolls is complete with clothing representative of the selected era, with shoes and accessories as shown, plus a saddle stand with plastic round base inside the box. Each individualized storybook-type retail display/presentation box has a hinged solid front cover with Velcro-type closure. The inside covers are elaborately illustrated with historical summaries of the depicted fashion eras.
ITEMS INCLUDED IN THIS LOT #1:
- Gibson Girl (1993 / 3702 / 074299037023) – Created by artist Charles Dana Gibson, the “Gibson Girl” was a popular American illustration subject that became a national icon for a new, modern ideal of womanhood featured in magazines and on commercial products, setting a standard for beauty and fashion emulated by women across various social classes from the mid-1890s to World War I. The “Gibson Girl” was depicted as tall and athletic, yet gracefully elegant, with an air of self-confidence and independence. This Barbie version of the “Gibson Girl” features a smiling brunette lady with a casual updo and side curls, wearing typical turn-of-the-century attire of a loose-fitting lace blouse gathered at the waist and tucked into a full skirt of faux silk moire material with matching capelet. A lace parasol and ribbon-trimmed straw hat complete the look.
- 1920’s Flapper (1993 / 4063 / 074299040634) – Following World War I, the 1920’s was a time of economic boom in the West, triggering disruption of traditional lifestyles with wealth disparity, social extravagance, Prohibition, and speakeasies. Women’s fashion ideals drastically changed, with the formerly admired voluptuous figure giving way to the slender boyish form with straight, loose-fitting dresses. For the first time, dress waistlines dropped to the hip, and hemlines showed some leg, while popular hairstyles transformed from carefully maintained updos to short styled “bobs” with elaborate “spit curls” and lacquered “finger waves.” Attire for opulent underground clubs involved ornate beaded dresses with fringe that swayed and flapped with movement – perhaps giving birth to the nickname “flapper.” This Barbie version of a flapper wears an elaborate gold and white beaded and fringed straight dress with a coat trimmed in white fur, along with other accessories typical of that time. (The doll stand support is loose in the box, due to factory tape coming loose. Also the bottom corners and edges show some rubs and dings and other wear, but the box still displays well.)

ITEMS INCLUDED IN THIS LOT #2:
- Egyptian Queen (1994 / 11397 / 074299113970) – From 3,000 to 5,000 years ago, the 18th Dynasty during the time of King Tut is considered the Golden Age of Egypt, just a distant memory now, as evidenced by the Pyramids of Giza guarded by the Sphinx. Egyptian Queen Barbie represents that era with an elaborate bejeweled headdress sporting layered shaped pieces, a broad layered and beaded/jeweled “wesekh” or “usekh” collar typically depicted as being worn by both men and women, as well as deities. Gossamer blue material is gathered and draped strategically over her chest to coordinate with a blue and silver patterned skirt. (Box has a few minor stress creases on the front cover and some edge/corner wear but displays well.)
- Grecian Goddess (1996 / 15005 / 074299150050) – 5th Century BC in Greece marked a golden age of culture, art, and philosophy that also included everyday acknowledgement of the mythical gods and goddesses of Mount Olympus. Despite the incongruity of a blonde Barbie representing the goddess Athena, she wears what is presumably typical goddess attire for the region and time period – a flowing pleated white layered gown secured at the shoulders and embellished with an assortment of metallic decorations, topped off by an orchid cape trimmed with a stereotypical geometric Greek design. (Box has some minor creases/dents in back but otherwise is in good shape.)

ITEMS INCLUDED IN THIS LOT #3:
- Medieval Lady (1995 / 12791/ 074299127915) – The Middle Ages or medieval period lasted approximately from the 5th to the late 15th centuries, beginning with the fall of the Western Roman Empire and transitioning into the Renaissance and the Age of Discovery. Typically known for castles, troubadours, Robin Hood, and knights in shining armor, feudal society was not all fun and games for the masses, but that didn’t stop proper ladies from dressing their best, especially when attending a feast at the king’s castle. Barbie is prepared for this social engagement wearing a deep blue velveteen gown with long draping sleeves and neckline trimmed in white fur to balance her elaborate two-point hat. (Box has some minor creases/dents in back and one side but otherwise is in good shape.)
- Elizabethan Queen (1995 / 12792 / 074299127922) – The Elizabethan Era, named for Queen Elizabeth I, daughter of King Henry VII and Ann Boleyn, spans her reign from 1558 to 1603, and is often referred to as England’s “Golden Age.” The period saw relative domestic stability, economic prosperity, and religious change. Arts and literature flourished, significantly with the debut of plays by William Shakespeare. It was also a time of rampant colonialism as England emerged as a major European power with overseas exploration following the defeat of the Spanish Armada. Elizabethan Queen Barbie wears a lavishly embellished and patterned gown typical of royalty at the time, with a cinched waist and fitted bodice, high ruffled collar, and wide sweeping skirt.

ITEMS INCLUDED IN THIS LOT #4:
- Southern Belle (1994 / 11478 / 074299114786) – The thin veneer of grace and charm of American genteel Southern society in pre-Civil War 1850’s was celebrated with lavish balls and ladies’ teas hosted in elaborate plantation settings. Barbie’s the belle of the ball in her pink and aqua-blue satin gown with low-cut neckline, fitted bodice, and sweeping hoop skirt draped with layers of tulle and bows and pearls. (Box top partially unglued but easy to fix.)
- Chinese Empress (1997 / 16708 / 074299167089) – China’s last dynasty, the Ch’ing Dynasty (1861-1908), was marked by turbulence, with Dowager Empress Tz’u-hsi reigning from 1644 to 1911. During the latter part of her reign, she attempted to bring China in line with European countries by establishing schools for boys and girls to learn both Chinese and European subjects. Chinese Empress Barbie wears an ensemble of the period that would have been similar to the empress’s garb – “Chao Guan” (“Manchu” hat), elaborate faux silk coat with dragon imagery over a “Chao Qua” jacquard dress, and slipper socks attached to molded hard soles mimicking what most likely would have been carved wooden shoe soles. (Box has some minor nicks and rubs on edges and corners but is structurally sound and displays well.)

ITEMS INCLUDED IN THIS LOT #5:
- Victorian Lady (1996 / 14900 / 074299149009) – The Victorian Era flourished in Western Europe and the United States from 1837 to 1901, and was named for Britain’s Queen Victoria, an iconic lady who reigned for 61 years with reserved sensibilities while doting on her family and keeping a close eye on political events. This fashion era was resplendent with sweeping ribbon-embellished bustled dresses, elaborated feathered headdresses, top hats, and cravats. Victorian Barbie wears a deep burgundy dress with a lace collar and tiered lace-trimmed skirt gathered in back to mimic a bustle and back train. (Box has a minor dented on bottom, and a top corner is curled up slightly, but otherwise is in good shape and displays well.)
- French Lady (1997 / 16707 / 074299167072) – The early 1800’s marked a time of opulence in France when Napoleon Bonaparte and Lady Josephine assumed rule of the country. Napoleon fostered a civil code, religious tolerance, and fair taxes, while German composer Beethoven rose to popularity in Europe. French Lady Barbie wears a wedgewood blue velveteen gown with a long column skirt channeling the classic elegance of ancient Greek architecture. (Box has a minor dent on front and a minor dimple on the back edge but otherwise is in good shape.)

REDRESSED. Bob Mackie’s 1998 Holday Barbie with a grand big-curls updo is wearing fourth in the Barbie Classique series, “Midnight Gala,” consisting of the following:
- Gown – Strapless tulle-lined black velvet gown with gold glitter pattern and multi-color jewel adornment. Zips in back.
- Cape – Fully lined black velvet shawl-collar ball gown cape that slips on with elastic loops to secure to upper arms and hooks in front.
- Headband – Coordinating lined jeweled velvet headband that hooks in back.
- Shoes – The shoes included with this ensemble are hard plastic with shiny gold surface and sculpted toe-box jewels – these are not the original shoes that came with this outfit.
- Jewelry – Barbie is wearing her original 1998 holiday jewelry – faceted “diamond” stud earrings and ring – plus a gold/silver-tone hard plastic molded necklace from another doll ensemble. The earrings that came with the gown ensemble are not included.
This a stunning legacy Bob Mackie ensemble to display with other similar glam dolls of the era.
NOTE 1: The gown is lined with black tulle and has not, in several years, stained the doll wearing it. However, the cape is velvet-lined and WILL stain, so as a precautionary measure, the doll included with this ensemble has had a coat of clear matte ModPodge applied to upper chest, arms, and neck to help prevent accidental contact staining. This coating is water soluble, will not harm the doll, and can be removed with a damp wash cloth. Alternatively, the cape and gown can be soaked in a vat of hot water with mild detergent (non-bleaching) to leach out excess dye. This is the standard method to colorfast a garment with staining/excess dye.
NOTE 2: Bargain-priced dressed dolls will not have extra nude body pictures provided in listing, due to time and labor constraints vs. monetary return. Any problems/flaws will be listed here: (none).

DRESSED. Barbie’s a rodeo trick rider in her retro Western get-up complete with hat and boots! Riding backwards on a galloping horse, and leaping from one running horse to another is no problem for this seasoned rider. She’s ready for thrills with no spills – and roaring applause from the crowds.
This classic 90’s Barbie with long pale blonde streaked hair is from the Generation Girl Dance Party series, on her original TNT twist-waist body with jointed arms. She’s been redressed in a legacy Superstar original red and white fringe jacket and flared mini skirt in felt-like material, with white slip-on cowgirl boots and white vinyl/plastic hat.
NOTE: Bargain dressed dolls will not have extra nude body pictures provided in listing, due to time and labor constraints vs. monetary return. Any problems/flaws will be listed here: 1) Doll body has a small dent on tip of left breast. 2) Jacket/top hem is ragged, could use a quick fix with needle and thread. Regardless, this is a very cute doll to add to your collection at a great price.

DRESSED. Barbie’s the official Texas State Fair “Barbecutie” – winning the barbecue cook-off contest once again, of course. This year, distant runner-up Ken stepped up his culinary game and managed to come in second. Barbie better watch out, or they could rename the contest the “Barbe-Ken” cook-off! But she’s not worried. A little extra hot sauce can really spice up the competition.
This classic 90’s Barbie has long pale blonde streaked hair, with the top layer styled in mini crinkle-waves emulating micro-braids.
