About Selling at DOLL-WORLD...

Section 1 of 5:   Overview of Selling Options

DOLL-WORLD OFFERS VARIOUS ONLINE SELLING OPPORTUNITIES

We envision a multilevel community platform that serves the needs of doll enthusiasts, offering members a variety of options to trade or sell their doll items. We invite you to explore selling opportunities at DOLL-WORLD. If you are a serious doll collector with too much stuff, or just have some doll items you’d like to rehome, then one or more of our selling options might help. Current planned/existing selling options at DOLL-WORLD include:

  • Forum Sales. Message-based private community sales through restricted-access forum allows privately arranged doll sales and trades between forum members, free of charge. (Viability depends on membership size and participation.)
  • Consignment Sales. Sellers can have their items listed for sale on the DOLL-WORLD shop.
  • Option 1: On-Site. Allows members to ship doll items to DOLL-WORLD to be sold and shipped from our online shop for a percentage of the sales price.
  • Option 2: Off-Site. Allows members to upload doll items sales listings on the DOLL-WORLD shop in exchange for a percentage of sales revenue, and ship orders from their own location.
  • Shop Manager. (In planning stage.) Allows member to manage independent shop on the DOLL-WORLD platform; responsible for photographing and uploading listings of all products, and shipping orders.

Forum Selling/Buying at DOLL-WORLD

HOW MESSAGE-BASED FORUM SELLING WORKS. The infrastructure for a membership forum is in place on the DOLL-WORLD site. We have created a restricted-access forum (DOLL BUY/SELL/TRADE) that will allow approved members to post doll-related “looking for” item requests or items for sale or trade. Members can negotiate personal sales and trades of doll-related items in a free-trade platform.

INDEPENDENT SALES NEGOTIATIONS. Members authorized to buy/sell/trade through the forum may negotiate transactions privately, using the available PRIVATE MESSAGING feature. Sellers can negotiate whatever payment methods and sales terms they find mutually agreeable with the buyer, as long as those negotiations do not deviate from the basic forum guidelines in place for everyone’s protection. (Read the general FORUM GUIDELINES – CLICK HERE.) Members may buy, sell, or trade ONLY doll-related items. (The category, “doll-related” is pretty broad, and may include action figures and other similar toys or collectibles. We’re asking everyone to try to keep it reasonable, so sales listings aren’t cluttered with stuff most doll collectors likely would not be interested in.)

DOLL-WORLD’S ONLY ROLE IN THE FORUM SELLING PLATFORM will be to provide the messaging service and passively monitor the forum to ensure basic guidelines governing transactions are followed, to help avoid bad behavior and fraudulent activities. DOLL-WORLD will not be responsible for anyone’s private sales negotiations or transactions or payments, or for the reputable nature of seller and buyer, except to vet them as members of our group and give access to the restricted forum. DOLL-WORLD will not take any percentage of private sales transactions, nor provide online payment methods for private sales. We will monitor and investigate all complaints, and remove members who clearly don’t abide by standard decorum and basic good sales/trade practices outlined in the FORUM GUIDELINES. (Read the general FORUM GUIDELINES – CLICK HERE.)

SAFETY ON THE WEB. There’s a reason the internet is often referred to as the “World Wide Web.” (No, Joey, the little “www” included in internet addresses does not stand for “Wonderful World of Wrestling.”) The so-called “information highway” is more accurately described as a dark hallway (hellway???) leading to all kinds of good and bad and various degrees of in-between. The internet is virtually an overwhelming, intricately layered, tightly packed, hard to navigate complex of sticky webs woven specifically to ensnare passing visitors – people attracted to online entertainment and shopping like moths to a streetlight. Sometimes a moth or two will get caught in the finely spun web of an unscrupulous spidery scammer hoping to snag some illicit gain from unsuspecting internet-surfing guests. Nobody can count themselves truly “safe” while they’re online, even with extra security measures like VPN’s, firewalls, and the like. We at DOLL-WORLD have instituted some common-sense rules for folks who choose to participate in our the DOLL BUY/SELL/TRADE forum. Be sure to read those guidelines carefully as part of the sign-up process for buying and selling on the DOLL-WORLD forum. (Read the general FORUM GUIDELINES – CLICK HERE.)

Sign up now to be ready. Our membership is growing but currently very small. A member-driven marketplace will not function without a sufficient number of members, so all new members are encouraged to bring other doll associates on board to make the forum participation worthwhile. In the meantime, we encourage current members to apply for BUY/SELL/TRADE forum access so they can post “looking for” messages and “want to sell (or trade)” messages. As membership grows, these messages will attract additional participation. If you post a message on the BUY/SELL/TRADE forum and later, outside the forum, find what you’re looking for or sell an item you’ve listed in the forum, please update the status of your listing to prevent others from responding to it. As always, we appreciate your participation.

Consignment Selling On-Site at DOLL-WORLD

WHAT IS ON-SITE CONSIGNMENT AT DOLL-WORLD? “Consignment selling” generally describes an agreement where an individual leaves items with a third-party seller to sell those items. When items sell, the individual is paid a portion of the sales proceeds, and the seller takes a portion as a selling fee or “commission.” Consignment selling at DOLL-WORLD means that an individual seller’s items are listed for sale in our online shop, and when those items sell, we pay the individual seller a portion of the sales proceeds, holding back a portion as our commission fee. As part of our vision for a multilevel platform, we’ve devised two options for consignment selling – ON-SITE and OFF-SITE – with certain variations in terms that can be adjusted to suit the needs of individual sellers.

WHO MIGHT BENEFIT FROM ON-SITE CONSIGNMENT SELLING THROUGH DOLL-WORLD? Doll enthusiasts and doll crafters with a lot of repeat items like custom-made clothing, or a large cache of lightweight, non-bulky doll-related items, can opt to have their items listed in the DOLL-WORLD online shop with no up-front listing costs. When the seller’s items sell, DOLL-WORLD receives a commission (percentage of sold-for price) on the items sold. This option is designed for folks who don’t want the investment cost and specialized work involved in creating their own online sales site, or the expense and bother of maintaining a dedicated personal shop on a commercial selling platform (like Ebay), that charges monthly store fees, or don’t want to mess with commercial sites (like Etsy), where short-term product listings expire and have to be renewed multiple times, incurring additional fees – all regardless of whether anything sells. DOLL-WORLD will work personally with sellers to create item listings, and each item’s listing will stay active on our shop indefinitely until the item sells or the initial sales agreement term expires and seller requests the item’s listings to be removed.

HOW DOES ON-SITE CONSIGNMENT SELLING AT DOLL-WORLD WORK? This option has the following requirements, with a few variations to suit individual seller needs.

  1. Location of physical product inventory.
    • DOLL-WORLD holds sales products at DOLL-WORLD‘s physical shop location and maintain’s seller’s inventory at that location.
    • Seller ships product inventory to DOLL-WORLD‘s physical shop location at seller’s expense, with an enclosed detailed inventory packing list of items shipped.
  2. Product Photographs and Descriptions for listing in DOLL-WORLD‘s Online Shop. Seller can choose one of the following options for each separate batch of products shipped to DOLL-WORLD:
    • Upload product descriptions and photos. Seller uploads own product photos and product descriptions to the DOLL-WORLD online shop, in the manner, style, and quality consistent with DOLL-WORLD‘s SELLER AGREEMENT requirements. This uploaded content will be used to create product listings in DOLL-WORLD‘s online shop.
    • Upload product descriptions only. Seller uploads own product descriptions, but leaves product photography to DOLL-WORLD. (This option incurs an incremental increase in DOLL-WORLD‘s sales commission fee as outlined in the SELLER AGREEMENT and is offered for sellers who don’t have the means or skill to properly photograph their doll items.)
    • No uploaded product information. Seller leaves photography and listing descriptions for DOLL-WORLD to create. (This incurs an incrementally increased sales commission fee as outlined in the SELLER AGREEMENT and is offered for sellers who don’t have sufficient writing skill to craft accurate descriptions, or the means or skill to properly photograph their doll items.)
  3. Orders.
    • Combined shipping for mixed products. Seller’s consignment products are allowed to be purchased with other items kept on-hand at DOLL-WORLD‘s shop location. This helps the buyer fulfill the minimum purchase amount required to complete an order by providing more product choices without restricting products that can be included in combined shipping for a single order. (DOLL-WORLD maintains a minimum purchase threshold to ensure shipping costs will be commensurate with total purchase cost, which helps balance payment processing fees DOLL-WORLD pays.)
    • Order Payment. When items sell, DOLL-WORLD accepts the buyer’s payment, including estimated shipping amount, through the website’s online payment portal.
    • Order Shipment. DOLL-WORLD ships the order using shipping amount collected from buyer at time of payment.
  4. Seller Payment. Seller is paid monthly per SELLER AGREEMENT. DOLL-WORLD calculates and deducts commission from sold price of all items, (less shipping paid), then sends balance to seller.
  5. Product Inventory Return Shipping. When seller’s unsold items are to be returned to seller (per SELLER AGREEMENT), DOLL-WORLD ships the unsold balance of seller’s product inventory at DOLL-WORLD‘s expense.

Consignment Selling Off-Site at DOLL-WORLD

WHAT IS OFF-SITE CONSIGNMENT AT DOLL-WORLD?

WHO MIGHT BENEFIT FROM CONSIGNMENT SELLING OFF-SITE THROUGH DOLL-WORLD? Doll enthusiasts and doll crafters with a lot of repeat items like custom-made clothing, or a large cache of bulky or heavy doll-related items (like boxed dolls), can opt to have their items listed in the DOLL-WORLD online shop with no up-front listing costs.

HOW DOES OFF-SITE CONSIGNMENT SELLING AT DOLL-WORLD WORK? This option has the following requirements:

  1. Location of physical product inventory. Seller maintains product inventory at seller’s location.
  2. Product Photographs and Descriptions for Listing in DOLL-WORLD Shop.
  3. Orders.
    • Combined shipping for mixed products. Seller’s products are kept at the seller’s location and cannot be purchased/shipped with other items kept on-hand at DOLL-WORLD‘s shop location. Seller’s products will be listed for sale only with other products from the same seller. Buyers will be required to purchase seller’s items in sufficient quantity/price to meet DOLL-WORLD‘s minimum purchase threshold. (DOLL-WORLD maintains a minimum purchase threshold to ensure shipping costs will be commensurate with total purchase cost, which helps balance payment processing fees DOLL-WORLD pays.)
    • Order Payment. When items sell, DOLL-WORLD accepts buyer payment, including estimated shipping amount, through website online payment portal.
    • Order Shipment. Seller ships order at seller’s expense.
  4. Seller Payment. DOLL-WORLD calculates and deducts commission from sold price of all items, then sends balance to seller per SELLER AGREEMENT.

Shop Manager Selling at DOLL-WORLD

WHAT IS SHOP MANAGER SELLING AT DOLL-WORLD? As part of our vision for a multilevel selling platform at DOLL-WORLD that serves the various needs of doll enthusiasts who choose to join our community, we plan to add individual, independently managed shops under the umbrella of DOLL-WORLD. This represents a significant step up from message-board selling or consignment selling. We envision a “dedicate mini doll mall” where multiple sellers can manage their own product listings and enjoy a stable store atmosphere not riddled with up-front listing fees, listing renewal fees, constantly expiring listings, or monthly store maintenance fees – which are common features at Ebay or Etsy, that add to a seller’s overhead expenses regardless of whether or not anything sells.

WHO MIGHT BENEFIT FROM SHOP MANAGER SELLING AT DOLL-WORLD? This selling option is designed for doll enthusiasts in our community looking for additional outlets to sell doll-related items long-term. This arrangement would be perfect for collectors and crafters who have a fairly large selection of items for sale but don’t have the resources to set up their own individual websites, and are looking for selling options in addition to or instead of Etsy or Ebay. For example, a doll enthusiast that might benefit from this setup would be one who sells quality handmade doll clothing and accessories on a regular basis.

LET’S CIRCLE BACK TO “A DEDICATED MINI DOLL MALL.” When we add additional individual seller shops to DOLL-WORLD, we’ll be creating an online selling platform somewhat similar to the shopping structure you’d find at Ebay or Etsy. But our mini mall will be specifically dedicated to doll items. While we can’t compete with Ebay or Etsy in sales traffic, we offer the advantage of a much smaller platform that eliminates the overwhelming clutter and competition from items that are not doll-related. Word-of-mouth advertising, a continued presence on social media platforms frequented by doll enthusiasts, and online searches for doll items will help our collective group of shop owners draw a tailored clientele so we can offer unique items and personalized service with lower overhead cost. A shared selling platform offers more autonomy for each seller to control listings and pricing with a SHOP MANAGER account.

DID WE SAY NO UPFRONT COSTS … AS IN “FREE”? YES, WE DID. A shop on our platform will have no required upfront monetary investment, no monthly fees assessed to maintain the shop, and no listing fees to offer items for sale. The only real cost is the seller’s personal time and effort to photograph and upload products for sale, update listings, and ship products. When items sell through our platform, we will assess a percent selling fee to help cover the online payment transaction fees (credit card or PayPal/VENMO) that DOLL-WORLD pays. Net sales will be paid out per our SELLER AGREEMENT.

SIGN UP NOW TO INDICATE YOUR INTEREST IN THE SHOP MANAGER SELLING OPTION. Even though the SHOP MANGER selling option is not yet available on the DOLL-WORLD platform, if enough people indicate a serious interest in it, we will make it a priority to add the necessary coding to make it work.

Section 2 of 5:   General Seller Requirements & Vetting

SELLING AIN’T EASY AND REQUIREMENTS ARE HARD

Buying is so easy… With the click of a button, you can have just about anything delivered to your door within days – even hours! If only selling were that easy. Many people don’t know what’s required to be a successful seller, and have no idea how much work is involved in the process of selling. Successful sellers must exude trust to attract customers and have perseverance to follow through with a multitude of tasks, some of which aren’t very fun. It’s one thing to sell a couple items on Ebay once in a while, but to maintain a consistent marketplace for return customers takes a lot more work. We at DOLL-WORLD understand not everyone’s cut out for selling, but some folks may be, and don’t know it. That’s why we’re offering this information – so folks who think they might be interested in selling at DOLL-WORLD can find out what is involved and decide if it’s a commitment they want to undertake.

Selling creates a contractual transactional agreement. Accepting compensation for items/services that are sold creates a contractual agreement between the two parties involved – the seller offering said items/service, and the buyer providing said compensation. The seller agrees to deliver what the buyer agrees to purchase once payment has been made. Successful transactions depend on a level of trust between the seller and buyer, with each having the reasonable expectation that the other will honor the agreed arrangement to final fulfillment, satisfying the terms of sale. Similarly, a contractual arrangement is created when DOLL-WORLD offers to provide a platform for sellers, and sellers have a reasonable expectation to be able to use the platform as offered.

VETTING POTENTIAL SELLERS. As the selling platform provider, it’s our job to make sure everything runs as smoothly as possible to avoid major hiccups that can quickly escalate to dumpster-fire disasters. Our goal is to maintains a satisfactory level of seller responsibility and customer trust to protect our brand and reputation. That process involves “vetting” all seller applicants by collecting information about the seller, including name, address, and contact information required on the SELLER APPLICATION form. Additional information may be required for specific selling options. We will also endeavor to remain in contact with sellers to ensure their needs are being met on our platform.

General Seller Requirements at DOLL-WORLD

VETTING POTENTIAL SELLERS. All seller applicants will be “vetted” by DOLL-WORLD. The vetting process involves collecting information about the seller, including name, address, and contact information required on the SELLER APPLICATION form. Additional information may be required for specific selling options, such as sample pictures of items the seller intends to offer for sale. This will require follow-up communication.

BASIC SELLER RESPONSIBILITIES. Below are standard expectations for anyone wanting to sell doll-related items on the DOLL-WORLD platform. Some requirements may be applicable only to specific selling options.

  1. Establish reasonable sales terms. Make sure your customers know up front what types of payment you’ll accept, how long you’ll take to fulfill and ship orders, what your return policy is, etc. Honor your terms.
  2. Communicate. Responsively communicate with buyers – and DOLL-WORLD – in a timely manner, as required.
  3. Be professional. Treat everyone with courtesy and respect. At the same time, don’t put yourself at unnecessary risk or loss just to appease someone who’s unreasonable, manipulative, or scammy. You have a right to politely refuse payment for any sale you don’t feel comfortable completing.
  4. Play fair. Offer items at reasonable current market prices. (No ridiculous price-gouging, scalping, or profiteering. If you plan to do that, please go elsewhere to sell your items.)
  5. Be honest. Properly represent items for sale with accurate descriptions. Disclose known defects or flaws that might affect an item’s desirability or functionality. Provide decent pictures that show quality and condition of item.
  6. Accept payments safely. Receive payment THEN ship. We recommend ALWAYS using a TRUSTED third-party payment app to accept or make payments. These apps will confirm when payment is made and it is safe to ship. There may be nominal fees involved in using apps, but they usually offer protection for both the buyer and the seller in case something goes wrong.
  7. Package items well to ensure safe travel. Shipping items is a critical step in fulfilling a sale. Consider the following:
    • Ship responsibly and in a timely manner. Don’t ship until you receive payment. If you decide to accept checks, don’t ship until the check CLEARS and funds are available in your account. Ship promptly – don’t be one of those sellers who, after receiving the buyer’s money, is in no big hurry to get those items to the buyer. Establish a strict shipping policy – like “ships within three business days” – and stick to it. Doing otherwise will destroy buyer trust and damage your reputation as a seller.
    • Pay attention to details. Double-check (or triple-check) items you plan to ship to fulfill a sale. This will help prevent mistakes, which can become quite costly to fix. Get the buyer’s full name and shipping address, plus reliable contact information. Check your shipping label (before you pay for it!) to make sure the address is accurate.
    • Select shipping materials appropriate for the types of items being shipped. Go beyond the minimum when packaging precious or delicate items. Choose shipping containers that are appropriately sized with recommended sturdiness for the types of items being shipped. Doll clothing and similar soft items can be shipped in padded envelopes or rip-resistant poly bags or Tyvek envelopes. Potentially breakable items like dolls or hard plastic accessories should be adequately protected with packing/cushion material and shipped in strong, sturdy boxes constructed with walled corrugated cardboard, not single-layer pasteboard or paperboard like cereal boxes. Reused boxes should be structurally sound, not previously smashed or punctured.
    • Properly secure and cushion items inside shipping packages. Wrap and cushion delicate or fragile items or parts of items (like doll joints) to help prevent damage. Place cushion-wrapped items in a non-staining plastic bag to protect from moisture in case package sits on a porch in the rain. Boxes should be large enough to leave spacing for loose padding all around the items inside, but not so much space that excessive filler material is required to keep items from sliding around. Fill the box with lightweight packing material like airbags, bubble-wrap, wadded-up plastic grocery bags, or crumpled scrap paper, packing paper, or tissue paper. Make sure no personal information is printed on scrap paper filler, and make sure merchandise is enclosed in a barrier from colored/printed packing material to avoid ink/color transfer/staining. Note that most people hate dealing with messy, static-generating, impossible to control packing peanuts! Pack your items as if you expect a gorilla to be tossing your box around. (Gorillas can throw stuff pretty hard.)
  8. Track packages. Tracking serves as proof of shipment and proof of delivery. Once items are shipped, provide the tracking numbers to your buyers so they can track their purchases. It might be tempting to use First Class mail to send something, but if that package gets lost, there’s no way to track it, so the loss comes out of YOUR pocket.
  9. Insure packages. Depending on the cost of the items you are shipping, you may want to consider using a shipping service that provides nominal insurance coverage. If your items exceed “included” insurance coverage limits, you’re better off charging an extra dollar or two to cover the extra value. Decide whether you can cover that extra cost yourself out-of-pocket if the package is lost or damaged. If the buyer wants the items, the buyer should be willing to pay for shipping – including insurance to protect the items in transit.
  10. Follow up after the sale. Contact the buyer to make sure everything is satisfactory. If not, endeavor to resolve conflicts equitably. If DOLL-WORLD is somehow involved in the sale, notify us of potential problems before they become disasters.

Forum Guidelines at DOLL-WORLD

THESE FORUM GUIDELINES cover general behavior expectations for members participating in the forums, as well as specifics pertaining to the DOLL BUY/SELL/TRADE restricted forum.

General Forum Etiquette:

  • Treat everyone with equal respect. Always treat others as you yourself would like to be treated. Save the snark for your personal friends who understand your unique personality quirks. Online interpretation can quickly become misunderstood or exaggerated, and tempers can flare, especially among strangers with different backgrounds and experiences. While in the forums, check your mood before posting a comment! Give everyone the benefit of the doubt and do not take anything personally or assume someone is targeting you. If you feel this is happening, report it directly to DOLL-WORLD Admin or the assigned forum monitor.
  • Respect the choices of others. Everyone has opinions, likes, and dislikes. Yours may not match those of others. The DOLL-WORLD forum is a place for community sharing, NOT to shame others for preferences that you find to be silly or offensive. If you disagree with something someone says, you may present alternate factual information in a polite, helpful manner. If you can’t do polite and helpful, the best alternative is to say nothing. Everyone is encouraged to share opinions, but not in a manner that is demeaning or insulting to others. DO NOT start arguments on the forums or encourage others to “take sides.” This behavior creates conflict and discord that is destructive to any online community, and it will not be tolerated.
  • “Trigger” topics are not allowed. DO NOT introduce known “trigger” topics (like recasting!) in the forums. We want the forums to remain a friendly and welcoming adult community. While it is OK for someone working on a project to ask specifics, or inquire about authentic details related to the project, questions should not be such that they open up volatile disagreements. This is NOT the place to argue polarizing off-topic subjects like porn, politics, religion, etc. Violators will immediately be banned.
  • Participation in the community is expected. It’s OK to “lurk” for a while if you are unfamiliar with a new group, or you’re not sure how to interact in a community setting. After some time, you should feel more comfortable interacting on the forums when you see how others do it. As a matter of common courtesy, it is expected that anyone who uses the forum to sell doll items should also establish a presence and interact on the community forum. The main objective of the forum is to build a friendly interactive community of people who like dolls, not lure potential customers for those who are eager to sell doll items. Members who join only to sell do not make especially good community members, and they may find that their sales announcements do not attract interest because no one is familiar with them on a personal level. Being active in the community means providing answers to forum questions if you can, participating in “challenges” or other activities if you can, and interacting with others with the assumption that you joined the group to share your interest in dolls.
  • Stay on topic. Forum topics deal with specifics. If you want to discuss a particular topic, go to that forum topic to discuss it. If a topic you want to discuss is not in the forums, you can create a topic – but do a simple forum search first to see if others have already opened a topic similar to yours. DOLL-WORLD reserves the right to move or remove forum comments that are not related to the forum topic where they appear.
  • Personal/private discussions in the forums. The forums are part of a public platform reserved for discussion of doll-related interests, with the expectation that anyone can view the information. Do not post personal sensitive information you would not want the general public to know. This includes phone numbers, email addresses, and other private contact information that could possibly be abused by non-member guests who may be able to view this information. While it is permissible to post information of general interest to other members about health situations and other similar topics, when posting about another person’s situation, ask that person’s permission before posting about them on a public forum.
  • Share only with permission. As a common courtesy, ask before sharing another member’s forum comments or posted pictures, etc. with others, especially on other platforms.

We need people! A member-driven marketplace will not function without a sufficient number of members, so all new members are encouraged to bring other doll associates on board to make the forum participation worthwhile.

Section 3 of 5:   Seller Agreements

SELLER AGREEMENTS FOR VARIOUS SELLING OPTIONS

Seller applicants are encouraged to read SELLER AGREEMENTS for each type of selling applicant is interested in. Each agreement lists the specific terms associated with the selling option, such as fees involved, duration of agreement, etc.

Applicants who sign up to sell through various options available at DOLL-WORLD, are agreeing to the SELLER AGREEMENT for each option they choose, so it’s important to read and understand the SELLER AGREEMENT terms. Read each agreement by clicking on the appropriate tabs below. Reading the applicable SELLER AGREEMENT(S) is required to submit the SELLER APPLICATION below in Section 4.

Forum Seller Agreement at DOLL-WORLD

FORUM SELLING AGREEMENT. As part of the vetting process to gain access to the BUY/SELL/TRADE restricted forum, members who wish to buy or sell doll-related items will need to fill out a SELLER APPLICATION (available in Section 4). In addition to observing general behavior Forum Guidelines and following the General Seller Requirements for handling sales as outlined in Section 2, members who buy/sell/trade using the restricted BUY/SELL/TRADE forum are expected to observe safe transaction practices suggested below.

Participating in the DOLL BUY/SELL/TRADE Forum:

  • The main objective of the forum is to build a friendly interactive community of people who like dolls, not lure potential customers for those who are eager to sell doll items.
  • Only doll-related items may be sold on the forum. If in doubt, ask Admin or the assigned moderator before posting your item for sale.
  • International sales. Anyone from any country is welcome to join the DOLL-WORLD forums. However, those who wish to sell doll items on the forum may find few buyers willing to pay international shipping. Because the shipping cost can be prohibitive, and to avoid member disappointment in finding just the right item, only to realize it comes from half-way around the world at a hefty price, DOLL-WORLD requires all international members outside the USA to identify an item’s country of shipping origin FIRST in all sales listings. After the community grows sufficiently, if the need arises, we will create country-specific sales forums.
  • Sales announcements should be made ONLY in the BUY/SELL/TRADE forum, and nowhere else. Once sales announcements are made, (with country of origin listed first, if an international sale), interested parties should respond directly to the specific announcement rather than create a new topic. This will help keep the conversation thread coherent on a specific sale item. Once an item sells, the seller should post a “SOLD” announcement on the original sales announcement to prevent others from wasting time pursuing an item that is no longer available.
  • Sellers and buyers should use the platform’s PRIVATE MESSAGING area to negotiate sales and trades, and make arrangements for payment. Private messaging cannot be seen by others who are not invited to the messaging conversation; however, it is NEVER a good idea to give out sensitive information like credit card numbers, bank account numbers, or Social Security numbers to others, especially in an online app like private messaging. There is never any reason someone should be asking for that kind of information, so DO NOT give it out. If anyone asks you for this type of information, report them immediately to the forum moderator or DOLL-WORLD Admin so they can be removed from the forums.
  • Sales follow-through tips. It is strongly recommended that members use trusted third-party payment apps to accept or make payment. A third-party app like GooglePay masks account numbers when payments are made. PayPal offers additional buyer protection as well as seller protection, and instructs sellers to ship only when payment is received. If you agree to accept a personal check from someone, DO NOT SHIP your item until the check amount CLEARS and is available in your account to spend. If in doubt, check with your bank.

We need people! A member-driven marketplace will not function without a sufficient number of members, so all new members are encouraged to bring other doll associates on board to make the forum participation worthwhile.

On-Site Consignment Seller Agreement at DOLL-WORLD

ON-SITE CONSIGNMENT SELLER AGREEMENT. As part of the vetting/application process, seller applicants are asked to read to SELLER AGREEMENTS for the selling options they choose to apply for. These agreements specify terms governing seller’s responsibilities and commitments when signing up to sell at DOll-WORLD, with explanations given for fees and other terms the seller applicant needs to know in order to make an informed decision about agreeing to sell on the DOLL-WORLD platform. Specific steps in the application process are explained below.

SUBMITTING SELLER APPLICATION FORM. The following are required when submitting a SELLER APPLICATION FORM to request participation in ON-SITE CONSIGNMENT SELLING through DOLL-WORLD‘s platform:

  1. Have an existing DOLL-WORLD account. If applicant does not have an account, applicant should create an account prior to applying for seller permission/status.
  2. Provide specific information on the SELLER APPLICANT FORM, some of which includes:
    1. Seller’s personal contact information:
    2. Phone number.
    3. Email address.
    4. Mailing address and shipping address if different from mailing address.
    5. Seller’s PAYPAL email address to receive payments from DOLL-WORLD.
    6. Seller’s preferred VENDOR NAME. The Vendor Name is the name DOLL-WORLD will use in product listings to identify whose products are being offered for sale.
    7. General description of typical items seller will be offering for sale.
    8. Select an option for providing sales listing photos and/or product descriptions. Choices can affect the sales fee percentage deducted from sales proceeds when items sell. Choices define whether applicant will:
    9. Upload own product photos and descriptions to DOLL-WORLD as required, or…
    10. Upload listing descriptions only, and have DOLL-WORLD create photos, or…
    11. Upload nothing and have DOLL-WORLD create product photos and descriptions.
  3. Email follow-up is also required. Seller applicants will be contacted by DOLL-WORLD to supply additional information if/when needed.

APPROVAL PROCESS FOR SELLER APPLICATION FORM. A period of time is required to review the application information. Also, follow-up information is required.

  1. Review information on application. Once DOLL- WORLD receives the application, a review period of up to five working days is required.
  2. Follow-up contact. Once applicant’s information has been reviewed, DOLL-WORLD may email applicant and request more information. This information may include but not be limited to:
    1. Request for specific detailed information about the items the applicant intends to sell. Depending on information supplied on the application form, the seller may be asked to submit specifics such as…
      • Information about dolls for sale.
        • Brand names of dolls to be sold (list all brands if multiple brands will be sold).
        • Models or lines of dolls (example: Fashion Royalty, Barbie, etc.)
        • General description of overall quality and condition of bulk of dolls to be sold. (Example: Nude, still in original packaging, etc.)
        • Photos of representative items to show quality and condition detail typical of majority of items.
      • Details regarding custom-made clothing items.
        • Description of typical clothing categories (casual street wear or formal gowns, etc.).
        • Types of items (tee-shirts, shorts, summer dresses, coats, jackets, etc.).
        • List of size restrictions, such as specific types of dolls the product is designed to fit.
        • List of primary/typical types of fabric used (cottons, satins, polyester blends, tulle etc.), and description of basic construction techniques and quality issues, such as whether items are lined and fabrics are prewashed and tested for colorfastness.
        • Photos of typical products, with detail photos of hem areas and sleeve insets to show stitching and construction quality.
  3. Follow-up review of additional information provided. Five business days are required to review follow-up product and other information provided by applicant. If DOLL-WORLD determines that further follow-up information is required, applicant will be emailed with a request for the specific information. Once received, DOLL-WORLD will require an additional five working days to review the additional information. More communication may be required until DOLL-WORLD can determine whether to accept or reject application.
  4. Notification of application decision. After review of additional requested information, DOLL-WORLD will notify applicant whether seller application is accepted or rejected. We anticipate approving most applications, as long as products are generally in good condition and applicant can reasonably adhere to sales agreement requirements.
    1. If application is rejected, notification email will state reasons (such as poor quality issues or extreme lack of marketability of items offered for sale by applicant).
    2. If application is accepted, notification email will provide instructions for submitting products for sale, based on selling choices made in the application.

SUBMITTING PRODUCTS FOR ON-SITE CONSIGNMENT SELLING:

  1. Product submission request. Within five working days of application approval notification, seller will be asked to submit preapproved products to DOLL-WORLD for consignment listing. Depending on the choices made by seller on the SELLER APPLICATION FORM, the following actions are required from the seller within ten working days:
    1. Seller ships preapproved products to DOLL-WORLD‘s physical location. The shipment should include an inventory list (can be legibly handwritten) that identifies items inside the package. This list will be used for inventory checking to make sure all items sent by seller arrive at DOLL-WORLD as described.
    2. Depending on product upload choices indicated on application, seller should do provide product information for online sales listings as follows:
      • Product Listing Option 1. Seller uploads product photos and descriptions using DOLL-WORLD‘s PRODUCT SUBMISSION FORM. Seller should complete a PRODUCT SUBMISSION FORM for each individual item, and each group of items to be sold together. Each PRODUCT SUBMISSION FORM should include product photos as well as detailed product description. Here are some suggestions:
      • Photos: Product photos for each item or group of items should be the best quality possible. Keep in mind the limit on number of photos per item allowed on the PRODUCT SUBMISSION FORM and choose only the best photos to showcase each product. (If you need some help figuring out how to produce “good quality” photos, see our recommendations at REFERENCES: Doll Maintenance and click on the info tab “Photographing Dolls.”) Basically, photos should display the following qualities:
      • Good lighting and focus that showcases product detail. (If available, use “macro” lens setting for close-ups less than twelve inches away from camera.)
      • Clean background. A light neutral background is best to showcase most products. However, appropriate prop setting diorama backgrounds may be used to showcase the stylish aspects of a featured doll or clothing piece.
      • Items sold as a group should be photographed together as a unit. Individual items in the group can also be photographed separately, or two or three together at a time, to present alternate detail close-ups – keeping in mind constraints on number of photos that can be uploaded on the PRODUCT SUBMISSION FORM.
      • Product Descriptions: Descriptions should be detailed and accurate enough to give customers a very good idea of what they are getting if they buy the product. Here are some general suggestions for content to be included, as applicable to the type of product being described:
      • Identify uniquely different items and quantities for each. If clothing, assign a description to tell one unique item from another. If style names are preferred, list them.
      • If multiples of an item are being sold as variants (like a sun dress – same style, different colors), indicate the variations available for this item.
      • For each unique doll, specify actual model and issue of doll, and character name, if applicable and if known. Example: Mattel Barbie Fashion Model Collection: Happy Go Lightly (Silkstone) /2005 G8889.
      • If products include nude dolls for which manufacturer stock number or exact year of issue are not known, simply include the manufacturer and general type of doll it is (era, body type, etc.). Note appearance details so item can be identified as a product unique from other offerings.
      • Identify and describe other doll-related items well enough that they can be identified easily from the description – sometimes photos simply are not enough to give customers a good idea of what’s being offered for sale. Product descriptions should give the basics as well as enhance the customer’s knowledge about the item before buying.
      • Item condition should always be stated. If a doll is sold nude, state it, because photos may actually feature the doll wearing clothing, to present a better look for the item. If a doll is sold “new in box” but the box has scuffs, scratches, crushing, or other kinds of damage, those defects should be clearly stated even if they are evident in product photographs. Descriptions should match what’s presented in photos.
      • Suggested or desired pricing should be included on the PRODUCT SUBMISSION FORM for items sold individually, as well as group pricing for items sold together. Items of a similar kind that are intended to be sold separately but are included under the same product listing as variations or additional quantities available should be priced individually.
      • Product Listing Option 2. Seller uploads only product descriptions and DOLL-WORLD creates product photography. A PRODUCT SUBMISSION FORM should be completed for each individual item or group of items the seller included in the product shipment to DOLL-WORLD. The product description should be detailed in the manner listed above under “Product Listing Option A.”
      • Product Listing Option 3. Seller leaves all product photos and descriptions for DOLL-WORLD to produce. Seller’s products shipped to DOLL- WORLD should include a shipping inventory list (can be legibly handwritten) that details items well enough that they can be identified in the shipment and matched to each item listed on the shipping inventory. This list will not only serve as an inventory checklist to verify shipment contents, but also be used to create product listings on the DOLL-WORLD shop. Suggested information to include should be very specific, as indicated in “Product Descriptions” under “Product Listing Option 1” above.
  2. Follow-up contact for confirmation of receipt. Once DOLL-WORLD receives expected shipments and uploads, depending on seller’s chosen options, and we’ve had a chance to inspect the items/information, we will contact the seller to…
    1. Confirm receipt of items shipped to DOLL-WORLD. Items and quantities indicated on the seller’s enclosed inventory list will be verified. If there are discrepancies, DOLL-WORLD will confirm actual items and quantities received.
    2. Confirm uploaded information, depending on seller’s chosen options. If information is missing, or discrepancies exist between what is expected and what has been received, DOLL-WORLD will recommend remedies to correct discrepancies. Seller may conform to suggestions or negotiate other options in order to complete product information submission.
    3. Discuss product pricing adjustments if it seems warranted.
    4. Discuss options for discount sale pricing – if, when, and how much discount should be applied, and whether advanced notification and/or approval is required from the seller.
    5. Discuss any other issues or questions that might arise.
  3. Approve and upload product listings in the DOLL-WORLD site. After all issues with product shipments and information submissions are settled satisfactorily, DOLL-WORLD will proceed with the product listing process.

WHEN ITEMS SELL:

  1. When seller’s items are purchased in a customer order, DOLL-WORLD processes the order in the typical fashion:
    1. The payment is received from the buyer through DOLL-WORLD’s payment portal.
    2. The product listing in the online shop for each item sold changes, depending on certain factors, such as quantity available.
      • Single item with stock quantity of “1”. If an item with a stock quantity of “1” is sold, the quantity will be zeroed out, and the item will no longer be available for sale. However, the product listing will still show in the online shop, and the “add to cart” button will change to “read more,” disallowing purchase but still showing the item in the store. This option allows the seller to restock the item if desired.
      • Items with multiple quantities or variations. If the item sold is available in multiples or different variations, the product listing will remain active as long as other products in the listing are still available, but the items that have been sold will show as unavailable with the “add to cart” button changed to “read more.” This option allows the seller to restock the item if desired.
    3. Seller will be notified of items sold, and be informed of items that are out of stock, in case seller wishes to restock some or all of those items. In regard to out-of-stock items, seller may choose to:
      • Request restocking. Email DOLL-WORLD to request restocking of specific out-of-stock items. Seller should ship items in the same manner as previously submitted. Quantity shipped should be sufficient to justify selected shipping service/cost.
      • Request removal of out-of-stock item listings. Email DOLL-WORLD to request removal of specific online product listings for out-of-stock items the seller does not plan to restock.
      • Do nothing. If DOLL-WORLD receives no instructions regarding out-of-stock items, after a period of time, the listings for out-of-stock products will be removed permanently from the online shop.
    4. The order process automatically generates a picklist and an invoice. DOLL-WORLD handles all shipping responsibility and will do the following:
      • Pick all items in the order and packaged for shipment. Many items may be included in an order, only some of which may be a seller’s consignment items.
      • Print an invoice and include it in the order as a packing list.
      • Process the order package for shipment.
        • Package is weighed.
        • Shipping postage is purchased.
        • Shipping label is affixed to the package.
        • Tracking information for the package is emailed to the customer and the seller.
        • The package is delivered to the shipping carrier for delivery to the customer.

PAYMENTS AND FEES:

  1. Payments from DOLL-WORLD to seller for items sold will be paid as follows:
    1. PAYPAL account required. All payments to seller will be sent through DOLL-WORLD’s PAYPAL account. Checks will not be mailed. This requires sellers to have a PAYPAL account to receive payments.
    2. Payments for items sold. DOLL-WORLD will pay seller per agreement for items purchased through DOLL-WORLD’s online shop, or are sold by DOLL-WORLD in any other manner, or purchased direct by DOLL-WORLD.
    3. Payment basis. Payment basis will be for the actual amount the item sold for, (retail price or seller-approved discount sale price) minus DOLL-WORLD’s deducted sales commission percentage outlined in the “Costs and Fees” subsection below. The exception is if DOLL-WORLD purchases seller’s items directly from seller, then no commission fee will be deducted from the payment made to seller.
    4. Payment minimum amount. DOLL-WORLD will track and record sales for each seller. In order for a seller to receive a payout of net sales proceeds (sales total after DOLL-WORLD‘s commission fee is deducted), a minimum of $5.00 of net sales must accumulate during a given month. If net sales for a seller do not meet the $5.00 minimum in a given month, sales amounts will be carried over to successive months until a cumulative total for unpaid sales reaches or exceeds $5.00. At DOLL-WORLD‘s discretion, payout minimum may be waived.
    5. Payout schedule. Seller payments will be made on a monthly basis as long as net sales for the month meet or exceed the required minimum amount of $5.00 for payout. All payments for a month will be made in the following month. DOLL-WORLD will calculate the amount due for the given month and send payment within 10 days after the end of the month for which net sales payment is being made. (Example: Seller’s earned sales amount after deduction of commission exceeds $5.00 for the month of June on sales proceeds collected from June 1 through June 30. Payout to seller would be calculated and paid to seller on or before July 10.)
  2. Costs and fees. Following is a breakdown of costs associated with various types of DOLL-WORLD consignment selling agreements:
    1. The seller’s out-of-pocket cost. Whenever the seller ships items to DOLL-WORLD, the seller pays for shipping cost. Best practice is to carefully plan what items to send for consignment and ship as few packages as possible to avoid excess shipping cost.
    2. Commission fee. The only indirect cost to the seller is the commission fee DOLL-WORLD charges when an item sells. This fee is based on the actual price the item sold for. If an item was sold while listed on sale with a discount off the retail price, the commission is based on the sale price, not the retail price. Commission is deducted before seller is paid for sold items. The commission fee charged by DOLL-WORLD depends on the Product Listing Option chosen by the seller:
      • Product Listing Option 1: [Seller uploads product photos and descriptions to DOll-WORLD.] When seller provides uploaded photos and descriptions as outlined in the “Submitting Products” section of this agreement, DOLL-WORLD will charge a 10% commission fee on sold items.
      • Product Listing Option 2: [Seller uploads only product descriptions and not photos to DOLL-WORLD.] When seller provides uploaded product descriptions as outlined in the “Submitting Products” section of this agreement, DOLL-WORLD will charge a 13% commission fee on sold items.
      • Product Listing Option 3: [Seller does not upload product descriptions or photos to DOLL-WORLD.] When seller provides only a shipping inventory list and does not uploaded product descriptions or photos as outlined in the “Submitting Products” section of this agreement, DOLL-WORLD will charge a 15% commission fee on sold items.
    3. No other fees are charged to the seller. There are no listing fees or periodic maintenance fees to keep listings active. DOLL-WORLD pays all shipping and payment processing fees for sold items. The only costs to the seller are initial shipping cost to send items, and commission charge when items sell.
  3. DOLL-WORLD services covered by the commission fee. Everything done to prepare items for sale, and every expense incurred to fulfill sales, is compensated by the commission fee and covers the following:
    1. Maintain an accurate inventory of seller’s items. This requires storage space and inventory control, and begins when DOLL-WORLD confirms receipt of the seller’s shipment of items. Associated time and effort include the following:
      • Check off items on seller’s inventory list to make sure all items are accounted for, and send an email receipt to seller acknowledging items and quantities received.
      • Individually package seller items in protective plastic bags (if not already bagged by seller) for inventory storage and sales packing.
      • Weigh individually packaged items.
      • Assign vendor-specific and category-specific stock numbers for each item and enter in inventory spreadsheet.
      • Label items with stock number and weight.
      • Sort and store items by stock number product category to easily locate items for order fulfillment.
      • Maintain safe and accessible inventory storage of seller’s items in a temperature-controlled environment.
    2. Photograph seller items for online product listings. (Product Listing Options 1 and 2 only.) Activities include the following:
      • Photograph each individual item for sales listing purposes.
      • Stage photos with proper lighting effects.
      • Prepare photo settings with backdrops or dioramas.
      • Select and dress models to wear or pose next to seller items.
      • Edit and crop photos.
      • Store photos electronically for future use.
      • Items with multiple quantities will have representational photos for the group. Items with variations (multiple fabric pattern choices or multiple size choices) will have a selector photo for each representative variation.
    3. Write product descriptions for seller items. (Product Listing Option 3 only.) Activities include the following:
      • Create and assign appropriate product names.
      • Write interesting and accurate product descriptions.
    4. Create online product listings for seller items. Activities include the following:
      • Choose correct categories in which to list items.
      • Upload and assign correct pricing, titles, descriptions, and photos to product listings.
      • Create product listings for each unique seller item, group of same items with multiple quantities, and group of similar variant items.
      • Create additional listing category to display seller’s products under seller’s chosen Vendor Name. This creates a second, separate listing category specifically for the seller’s items, so the seller’s items will get double listing exposure – once in the main set of products found on DOLL-WORLD’s shop, and again under the seller’s Vendor Name category found on DOLL-WORLD’s shop.
    5. Fulfill orders for sale of seller items. Activities include the following:
      • Print order picklist and pick items for order.
      • Package individual items, print and include invoice, and weigh package.
      • Purchase shipping and extra insurance when required, to ship orders.
      • Deliver packages to carrier for shipping.
      • Track packages and follow up on orders with customers.
    6. Maintain accurate accounting. Activities include the following:
      • Track individual seller sales, calculate monthly totals, and deduct commission fee from monthly sales totals before sending payment to seller.
      • Pay fees assessed by payment portal to collect buyer payments and send payments to sellers.

    AGREEMENT DURATION / CANCELLATION:

    1. Agreement comes into effect ONLY after all the following conditions are met:
      1. Seller completes and submits a SELLER APPLICATION FORM.
      2. DOLL-WORLD approves the seller’s application. The approval process involves review of seller’s item photos and descriptions, and follow-up contact with seller. Seller and DOLL-WORLD must agree on retail pricing of all items before agreement can be approved. Pricing may need to be adjusted slightly by DOLL-WORLD if quality expectations or other circumstances warrant it.
      3. Seller sends first shipment of items to DOLL-WORLD’s physical address for selling. Seller will pay for shipping cost to ship items, and will include a list of each package’s individual item contents. The list can be handwritten but must be legible.
    2. Required commitment of initial six-month term for sales agreement. In consideration of the time and effort DOLL-WORLD will invest in promoting and selling the seller’s items, the CONSIGNMENT SELLER AGREEMENT will stay in force for an initial six-month period.
      1. This initial six-month period commences from the time seller’s first shipment of items is received by DOLL-WORLD – NOT when the agreement is approved.
    3. Cancellation of Seller Agreement. The sales agreement between seller and DOLL-WORLD can be terminated anytime for any reason by either party after the required initial six-month sales period expires. Exceptions to this will be granted only under extreme circumstances.
      1. Termination must be requested in writing either by email or postal mail.
      2. After agreement terminates, DOLL-WORLD will do the following in a reasonable and timely manner:
        • Remove seller’s product listings on the DOLL-WORLD online shop.
        • Return seller’s remaining unsold items in same condition as received. Cost of shipping back to seller will be at DOLL-WORLD’s expense.
        • If, for whatever reason, any items cannot be returned, DOLL-WORLD will pay the agreed-upon retail price for said items to seller without deduction of sales commission.
        • Remaining sales proceeds due for the seller, regardless of regular payment schedule or usual minimum amount requirements, will be paid by DOLL-WORLD to close the seller’s account.
      3. DOLL-WORLD shall not be held liable for any other commitments or situations in regard to this agreement, once the above-listed responsibilities are fulfilled.

SUBMITTING PRODUCTS FOR OFF-SITE CONSIGNMENT SELLING:

  1. Product submission request. Within five working days of application approval notification, seller will be asked to submit preapproved product information to DOLL-WORLD for consignment listing, using the online PRODUCT SUBMISSION FORM. A submission form is required for each product listing. The product information should be uploaded within ten working days. Product information should include the following for each item or group of items to be listed for sale by seller:
    1. Photos: Product photos for each item or group of items should be the best quality possible. Keep in mind the limit on number of photos per item allowed on the PRODUCT SUBMISSION FORM and choose only the best photos to showcase each product. 2. Follow-up contact for confirmation of receipt. Once DOLL-WORLD receives expected product information uploads, and we’ve had a chance to inspect the information, we will contact the seller to…
    1. Confirm receipt of product information uploaded to DOLL-WORLD. Items and quantities, pricing, and photo quality will be verified. If there are discrepancies, DOLL-WORLD will confirm information with seller. If information is missing, or discrepancies exist between what is expected and what has been received, DOLL-WORLD will recommend remedies to correct discrepancies. Seller may conform to suggestions or negotiate other options in order to complete product information submission.
    2. Discuss pricing adjustments if it seems warranted.
    3. Discuss options for discount sale pricing – if, when, and how much discount should be applied, and whether advanced notification and/or approval is required from the seller.
    4. Discuss any other issues or questions that might arise.
  3. Approve and upload product listings in the DOLL-WORLD site. After all issues with product information submissions are settled satisfactorily, DOLL-WORLD will proceed with the product listing process.

      • Items with multiple quantities or variations. If the item sold is available in multiples or different variations, the product listing will remain active, showing the products still available, but the sold product as unavailable with the cart button changed to “read more.” This option allows the seller to restock the item if desired.
    3. Seller will be notified of items sold, and be informed of items that are out of stock, in case seller wishes to restock some or all of those items. In regard to out-of-stock items, seller may choose to:
      • Request restocking. Email DOLL-WORLD to request restocking of specific out-of-stock items. Seller should indicate which items are to be restocked, and in what quantities.
      • Request removal of out-of-stock item listings. Email DOLL-WORLD to request online product listings for specific out-of-stock items be removed from the online store.
      • Do nothing. If DOLL-WORLD receives no instructions regarding out-of-stock items, after a period of time, the listings for out-of-stock products will be removed permanently from the online shop.
    4. The order process automatically generates a picklist and an invoice. DOLL-WORLD will email to seller the picklist and invoice for each separate order. These documents indicate which products to ship, and to what customer name/address.
    5. SELLER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR SHIPPING THE PRODUCT IN A TIMELY MANNER – three business days from receiving picklist and invoice.
      • All items in the order are picked and packaged for shipment.
      • The invoice for each separate order should be printed by the seller and included with the order shipped to the customer.
      • The order package is processed for shipment.
        • Package is weighed.
        • Shipping postage is purchased.
        • Shipping label is affixed to the package.
        • Tracking information for the package is emailed to the customer and DOLL-WORLD.

    3. Payments for shipping cost collected from buyers. DOLL-WORLD will pay seller per agreement for shipping cost collected from buyer at time of purchase.
    4. Payment basis for items sold. Payment will be for the actual amount paid by buyer, including shipping fees paid by the buyer, for the purchase of seller’s items, minus DOLL-WORLD’s deducted sales commission percentage outlined in the “Costs and Fees” subsection below. The exception is if DOLL-WORLD purchases seller’s items directly from seller, then no commission fee will be deducted from the payment made to seller.
    5. Payment minimum amount. DOLL-WORLD will track and record sales for each seller. To receive a payout, a minimum of $5.00 of sales minus commission (net sales) must occur during a given month. If net sales for a seller do not meet the $5.00 minimum, sales amounts will be carried over to successive months until a cumulative total for unpaid net sales reaches or exceeds $5.00. At DOLL-WORLD‘s discretion, payout minimum may be waived.
    6. Payout schedule. Seller payments will be made on a monthly basis as long as net sales for the month meet or exceed the required minimum amount of $5.00 for payout. All payments for a month will be made in the following month. DOLL-WORLD will calculate the amount due for the month and send payment within 10 days after the end of the month for which sales payment is being made. (Example: Seller’s earned net sales amount after deduction of commission exceeds $5.00 for the month of June on sales proceeds collected from June 1 through June 30. Payout to seller would be calculated and paid to seller on or before July 10.)
  2. Costs and fees. Following is a breakdown of costs associated with off-site consignment sales at DOLL-WORLD:
    1. The seller’s out-of-pocket cost. Whenever the seller ships items to customers buying seller’s items through DOLL-WORLD, the seller pays for shipping cost up-front, but will be reimbursed for shipping cost collected from buyer as outlined above. Seller is responsible for obtaining necessary shipping supplies to ship products safely as indicated in Section 2 “General Seller Requirements.” Seller may want to use a free Pirate Ship or similar account to get discount shipping rates.
    2. Commission fee. The only indirect cost to the seller is the 8% commission fee DOLL-WORLD charges only when items sell. This fee is based on the actual price the items sold for, including shipping fees collected at time of purchase. If an item was sold while listed on sale with a discount off the retail price, the commission is based on the sale price, not the retail price. Commission is deducted before seller is paid for sold items.
    3. No other fees are charged to the seller. There are no listing fees or periodic maintenance fees to keep listings active. The only costs to the seller are initial shipping cost (reimbursed per agreement) to send items, and commission charge when items sell.
  3. DOLL-WORLD services covered by the 8% commission fee. Everything done to prepare items for sale, and every expense incurred to fulfill sales, is compensated by the 8% commission fee and covers the following:
    1. Create and maintain accurate online listings of seller’s items, based on information provided by seller. Associated time and effort include the following:
      • Choose correct categories in which to list items.
      • Create and assign appropriate product names if needed.
      • Edit product photos and/or descriptions to ensure they are appropriate for listing needs.
      • Upload and assign correct photos to product listings.
      • Create product listings for each unique seller item, group of same items with multiple quantities, and group of similar variant items.
      • Create additional listing category to display seller’s products under seller’s chosen Vendor Name. This creates a separate listing category specifically for the seller’s items, so the seller’s items will be sold and shipped only with other items from same seller.
    2. Facilitate fulfillment of orders for sale of seller’s items. Activities include the following:
      • Email seller picklist and invoice for each order, showing items sold and customer name and shipping address. (Seller will print copy of invoice for inclusion with customer’s shipment.)
      • Track packages (based on tracking information provided by seller) and follow up on orders with customers.
    3. Maintain accurate accounting. Activities include the following:
      • Track individual seller sales, calculate monthly totals, and deduct 8% commission fee from monthly sales totals.

    3. Seller uploads initial preapproved product information using DOLL-WORLD’s PRODUCT SUBMISSION FORM.
  2. Required commitment of initial six-month term for sales agreement. In consideration of the time and effort DOLL-WORLD will invest in promoting and selling the seller’s items, the OFF-SITE CONSIGNMENT SELLER AGREEMENT will stay in force for an initial three-month period.
    1. This initial three-month period commences from the time seller’s first upload of product information is completed and approved by DOLL-WORLD – NOT when the agreement is approved.
  3. Cancellation of Seller Agreement. The sales agreement between seller and DOLL-WORLD can be terminated anytime for any reason by either party after the required initial three-month sales period expires. Exceptions to this will be granted only under extreme circumstances.
    1. Termination must be requested in writing either by email or postal mail.
    2. After agreement terminates, DOLL-WORLD will do the following in a reasonable and timely manner:
      • Remove seller’s product listings from the DOLL-WORLD online shop.

Shop Manager Seller Agreement at DOLL-WORLD

(NOTE: This selling option is currently in the planning stage and is not yet available. If you want this option, you can sign up now. Sign-up interest will determine if/when we incorporate a marketplace for individual shops on our platform.)

SHOP MANAGER SELLER AGREEMENT. For mutual protection of the seller and the DOLL-WORLD platform, this agreement specifies the process, fees, and mutual responsibilities and expectations of the sales platform (DOLL-WORLD) and the seller. Terms are defined and discussed below.

INDIVIDUALIZED SHOP ON DOLL-WORLD’S MULTI-SHOP PLATFORM. The SHOP MANAGER selling options is a step up from forum message-board selling or consignment selling, and comes with a lot more responsibility. This option is designed for experienced sellers who know how to prepare product listings and upload them online, ship their own products, and deal directly with buyers. Each seller will have more autonomy to control their own listings and pricing. An individual shop is the perfect answer for sellers looking for additional outlets to sell doll-related items long-term without the investment of a personal website or monthly store fees paid to a commercial selling platform, because there is NO upfront cost – just the time and effort it takes to build an individual shop and upload products. This multi-shop marketplace arrangement is similar to the shopping structure at Ebay or Etsy, but our mini “doll-mall” will be specifically dedicated to doll items. While we can’t compete with Ebay or Etsy in sales traffic, we offer the advantage of a much smaller platform that eliminates the overwhelming clutter of non-doll items and competition from millions of sellers. Word-of-mouth advertising and a continued presence on social platforms frequented by doll enthusiasts will help our collective group of shop owners draw a tailored clientele so we can offer unique items and personalized service. Buyer payments to sellers come through DOLL-WORLD’s PAYPAL account and are transferred to the buyer minus a percentage commission that covers DOLL-WORLD’s payment portal fees. The agreement details follow…

HANDLING ORDERS:

  1. When a customer places an order in the seller’s shop, the following happens:
    1. The payment is received from the buyer through DOLL-WORLD’s payment portal.
    2. The product listings for items sold in the seller’s shop automatically show as no longer available when stock is empty. (This depends on how the product listing settings are set up per the seller’s preferences. For one-of-a-kind items that won’t be restocked, seller may choose to have listing disappear from the shop after item is sold and no stock remains.)
    3. Seller will be notified of items sold, to process order. Order processing includes the following:
      • Seller will pick items to fulfill order. (Double- triple-check order to avoid costly errors.)
      • Seller will have packing materials on hand. Used boxes, bubblewrap, and packing paper may be reused if in good shape and not previously damaged. If boxes show logos or other writing that would interfere with shipping label scanning by carrier, wrap and tape securely with brown paper or don’t use.
      • Seller prints order invoice to include with shipment as a packing slip.
      • Seller will package items for safe transport. This may require using a larger box to allow items to be wrapped for cushion to avoid breakage. Best practice is to cushion entire interior of box so items are shielded from box punctures during shipping.
      • Seller will weigh and measure package if purchasing shipping online. A postal scale is required for accuracy. (Do not use a bathroom scale.)
      • Collected payment will be sent to seller after DOLL-WORLD’s commission is deducted, per agreement.
      • Seller will use payment received to purchase shipping service.
      • Seller will deliver order package for shipment within the seller’s advertised ship-time.
      • Seller will send tracking information to customer.
      • Seller will follow up with customer after package is delivered, to ensure satisfaction, and as a sign of good customer service.

PAYMENTS AND FEES:

  1. Method of payment. Payments from DOLL-WORLD to seller for items sold will be paid as follows:
  2. PAYPAL account required. All payments to seller will be sent through DOLL-WORLD’s PAYPAL account. Checks will not be mailed. This requires sellers to have a PAYPAL account to receive payments.
  3. Payments for items sold. DOLL-WORLD will pay seller for total order sales collected from the buyer, minus DOLL-WORLD’s commission.
  4. Payout schedule. Payments will be paid to seller within 36 hours of DOLL-WORLD receiving payment from buyer.
  5. DOLL-WORLD’s commission basis. Commission of 5% will be calculated from the total buyer payment, including shipping, for each order completed in the seller’s shop. Commission will be deducted before order payment is transferred to seller.
  6. Costs and fees. The following costs and fees are typically associated with a shop manager seller agreement:
    1. The seller’s out-of-pocket cost. There are some inevitable costs the seller must cover as a cost of doing business. These may include:
    2. Cost of materials to prepackage items for sale – plastic baggies, labels, etc.
    3. Unexpected shipping surcharges. Whenever the seller ships orders to buyers, the seller pays for shipping cost. Shipping cost should be set up to automatically calculate at the time of purchase so the buyer pays to cover the cost of shipping. If a miscalculation occurs where the buyer’s payment does not cover the actual cost of shipping, the seller is responsible for making up the difference. Best practice is to carefully plan ahead and pad shipping costs to account for extra packing material and larger boxes that incur higher shipping rates.
    4. Packing materials. Sellers may end up having to pay for packing materials, such as boxes, bubblewrap, packing paper, etc.
    5. We DO NOT recommend shipping peanuts, because these are not easily recyclable and can create static messes that drive customers nuts when unpacking a box full of peanuts. Also, if the box is not stuffed very full, items inside can shift in a thin bed of peanuts. The only excuse to use them is if you have access to an abundant free supply (like from an outside job).
    6. We DO recommend sourcing free good used packing materials. Free boxes and bubble wrap can be found through many sources – friends who order online frequently, grocery stores, liquor stores, and maybe your place of employment. Let your shopaholic friends know you want their boxes. Talk to store managers to find out if you can pick up discarded boxes before they are crushed for recycling. Of course you’ll need a place to store packing material. Bubblewrap and packing paper, in used form, take up a lot of room if stored in garbage bags, and free boxes may not be quite uniform or easy to store. So keep that in mind.
    7. If you plan to ship FedEx, or USPS Priority or Flat Rate, you can get free shipping supplies from the carriers. Just contact them and order or pick up what you think you’ll need to keep on hand. These items come flat for easier storage.
    8. We suggest using a free discount shipping account like Pirate Ship to get the lowest rates possible without a commercial account with common shipping carriers. Up to 10% or more can be saved per package with a discount shipping service that scouts for the cheapest rates available.
    9. Commission fee. The only indirect cost to the seller is the 5% commission fee DOLL-WORLD charges when an order payment is made to the seller’s shop. This fee is based on the total amount paid by the buyer, which includes shipping cost for physical items sold. (If you’re selling downloadable items like patterns or tutorials, no shipping is assessed.) Commission is deducted before seller is paid for order.
    10. No other fees are charged to the seller. There are no listing fees or periodic maintenance fees to keep listings active.
